Here are some links to recent articles. They will give you additional insight into my thinking (the bMuse Way!) and may provide you some helpful insights into aspects of the grant process. NEW! Making the Case for Green NEW! Sarah quoted in The Christian Science Monitor on the subject of Green Museums NEW! The Greener Good– The Enviro-Active Museum NEW! The Green Development Office – As in Environmentally Thoughtful It's Easy Being Green: Museums and the Green Movement (downloadable pdf) Board & Staff: Welcoming the Green Revolution in Your Museum Summit Meetings: Their Value in Planning and, therefore, Grants Development What if Museums Had Really Great Theme Music? "Green" Money: The Funding Landscape for Museums Thinking About Going Green Understanding the Federal Review Process A Charitable Edge--Do Your Proposals Have One? More Recommended Reading Civilizing the Museum: The Collected Writings of Elaine Heumann Gurian and Thriving in the Knowledge Age: New Business Models for Museums and Other Cultural Institutions by John Falk and Beverly K. Sheppard Both are important books for practicing professionals to read and consider as they worry about museums’ future as public institutions. My two favorite grant-preparation books are: Writing for a Good Cause by Joseph Barbato and Danielle S. Furlich, and Demystifying Grant Seeking by Larissa Golden Brown and Martin John Brown. I recommend these as must-haves to new and experienced grantwriters, and to students in my grantwriting classes. For my friends interested in working for themselves as I do, whether as museum consultants or freelance grantwriters, I recommend they start with Dan Pink's Free Agent Nation. There's no greater cheerleader for the self-employed. Sustainable Museums |
