I work in New England and the Mid-Atlantic states, helping museums and other cultural and educational organizations become sustainable through: • Green Funding: grant funding to support green (environmentally sustainable) operations and green construction; • Strategic Grants: development to support other earned and gifted income streams; and • Mainstreaming Museums: refashioning museums' programs and behaviors to bring museums closer to overcome declining admission and reduced relevancy. How bMuse Works We start with a conversation and a chance for me to review materials about you and what you're interested in. Then I develop a proposal to do the work in phases or in one fell-swoop depending upon your situation. I will give you not-to-exceed prices for finite projects and government grant applications. For other projects, you can choose payment arrangements by-the-hour or by retainer. If we reach a point where I provide continuing organizational support then we agree upon a monthly retainer. For simplicity, some clients choose to use Groove software that I provide. This allows us to store and synchronize documents (proposals, financial sheets, support materials) to simplify the process while keeping the best and current materials constantly available. Why bMuse Does What It Does I believe that the defining feature of museums is experiential learning – the pleasure, power, and opportunity of it. But I'm afraid for museums. I'm afraid that without aggressive efforts to remain programmatically relevant and financially-stable, otherwise valuable museums will fail. And that means the public will lose their opportunity for powerful, pleasurable learning. So I focus my work on helping museums become sustainable through strategic grants development, cost-saving green buildings and behavior, and in mainstreaming actions that strengthen relevance and responsiveness to the audiences they serve.
